This was a fairly quick read and it was enjoyable and sweet, however Annabelle annoyed me at times I felt that she a little petty sometimes. I was so excited when I saw A. Willard had a new book out. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors! When I read the synopsis, I knew I would love this book, and I was right. Paxton and Annabelle have been best friends since they were children.
No one knows them like they know each other…their fears, their joys, and how to make the other smile. They share everything…except one important thing. They are in love with each other, but they have never told each other. Paxton has a job tha I was so excited when I saw A. Paxton has a job that keeps him away for long periods of time. When he is back in the States, he stays with Annabelle.
This time when he comes back their sexual tension combined with tequila shots totally changes everything. Annabelle is completely thrown off kilter. She has always loved Paxton, and when she planned on telling him while they were in high school, something happened no spoilers that made Paxton no longer believe in love.
So, she has never told him because she would rather have him in her life as a friend than lose him forever. She has waited patiently to see if his outlook will ever change. Even though she is a matchmaker, she has put her own love life on hold. As you can imagine, with this new development, she is afraid he will run again. To say she is confused would be an understatement. Paxton has always loved Annabelle too. Every woman needs a Paxton in her life, and we women who do have a Paxton in our lives, are truly blessed!
It will test their love for one another, yet it has the possibility of giving them both more than they thought possible. This is when readers will see how wonderful Paxton really is. Willard has written several different kinds of series in the romance genre, and each book is different.
However, some things remain constants in her books…her humor and sense of family and friendship. Those two things are always what bring me back to her. Bold title font. The cover alone would not have been enough to get my attention. Now, nearly 20 years later, Pax and Belle are still closely entwined in one another's life, even when he's off to remote places taking photos of the world's wonders. After a night of WAY too many tequilas, the rules of the game are changed. Belle and Pax both have secrets that need to come out but life and misunderstandings keep getting in the way. Cute couple, nice chemistry.
Loved the secondary cast. Dialogue was fresh and fun. Interactions were believable. The book read smoothly and was easy to immerse myself into, with pages flying past at a steady rate. The plot was entertaining and dynamic. Conflicts were met in manners that felt natural to the characters and resolved in acceptable ways. Predictability was low.
